Vita let out a deep breath. That took a lot out of her, but in the end, it would be worth it as long as Amanda does what she asked her to do.
“What are you doing?” A deep voice asked from across the room.
Vita sucked in a breath and cleared her mind quickly of everything she had been thinking about.
“Nothing.”
Tristan slowly walked into the lighted part of the room.
“Don’t lie, Vita, you know my mom will be able to sense anything you’ve been thinking about. Just like she was able to sense all those people in the room. If she hadn’t come in here when she did our plan would have been spoiled.” He told her.
He ran his hand down the side of her face.
Vita just sat there frozen. Anything she had ever felt for Tristan was gone. He disgusted her now.
He squatted down in front of her.
“You know if you decided to stay with me and never leave me again, I could talk with my mom about releasing you.”
Vita just stayed quiet as she bit her tongue. She would love to tell Tristan off. But it would only make him angry and lash out at her. He had inflicted enough pain on her to last a lifetime. She was almost becoming numb. She did however feel the touch of Deak as he lightly rubbed her cheek. At that moment it was the best feeling in the whole world, and it was gone before she knew it.
Persephone had sensed who she assumed was Zachary, Deak, and maybe someone else. Possibly Ruby in the room. They must have done some type of spell to connect themselves to her.
It was a very complex spell.
“You know I hate seeing you like this.” He said softly as he rubbed her leg with just a finger.
This made Vita’s skin crawl and she let out a shiver.
Tristan smirked.
“See you do still have some feelings for me.” He told her.
She still didn’t look at him. She was trying hard not to give him any inclination that she was feeding into his manipulations.
Tristan’s eyes narrowed as he waited for some type of response from Vita.
“Fine, be that way.” He told her as he got back onto his feet.
He turned around and left the room.
Vita let out a sigh of relief.
“Please Amanda, you’re my only hope.” She breathed out softly.
*******
Hudson woke up groggy the next morning. Artemis kept moaning and groaning half the night and wouldn’t let him sleep.
What are you whining about? He asked his wolf.
You let my mate Willow go off without us! He bellowed.
What? Who is?
And then he remembered.
Amanda found out that her wolf’s name was Willow.
He smiled at the name.
Artemis had spent the night saying it over and over again.
But what was he talking about letting them go off without them?
Hudson rolled out of bed and threw some clothes on.
He headed for Marco’s room and knocked on the door.
No answer.
Hudson shrugged. He thought maybe he was with Tabitha already.
He decided to Mind-link him.
Hudson: Hey man, where you at?
Marco: You’re joking right?
Hudson was confused. Why did Marco have such an attitude with him this morning?
Hudson: What’s with the attitude?
Marco: We’re on our way to Vita’s place.
Hudson had just gotten outside when Marco had read back on where they were at.
Hudson: Who’s we?
Marco: (Sigh) Amanda, Tabitha, and I. We called Stan and he picked us up.
Hudson felt his possessive side grow when he heard that Amanda was not on campus.
Hudson: Why was I not aware of this?
Marco: What’s going on with you? I went to your room last night and tried to wake you up and then mind-link you telling you Amanda needed you and you blew her off.
Hudson started to panic.
What was Marco talking about?
Hudson: Dude, I swear I have no memory of that happening at all.
Marco was silent for a moment.
Marco: It might be best if you hang back.
Hudson didn’t like the sound of that.
Hudson: Why? I should be there with her. I’m her calm.
Marco: I don’t think she sees it like that, right now.
Hudson let out a sigh.
Hudson: Fine, keep me posted.
Marco: Of course.
Hudson felt the disconnection from the mind link just as he was pushed from behind.
He regained his balance quickly and turned around to see who pushed him.
“I thought I told you to stay away from her,” Colson growled.
Hudson’s temper grew quick, but he sucked in a breath to gain control.
“She found me. Not the other way around.” Hudson clarified.
Hudson watched Colson as his hand gripped into fists.
“She doesn’t need you playing with her head.”
“I’m not doing that. I found my mate. You know that.”
“How do I know you haven’t rejected her for being the freak that she is.” Colson accused.
Hudson wanted to rip him to shreds for disgracing his mate. But he knew he couldn’t. That would start a war between their two packs.
“Leave my mate alone. This doesn’t pertain to her.” He growled.
Colson chuckled.
“You’re an idiot if you think that this doesn’t include her.”
Hudson looked at him confused for a moment.
“What are you trying to say?”
“You better keep an eye on your mate, if you want to keep her safe.”
Hudson was beginning to lose it and Artemis was skimming on the surface to teach this wolf a lesson.
“Is that a threat?”
“It’s a promise. Oh, and stay away from Ophelia or I will finish you and not think twice about it.”
Colson turned and walked away.
Hudson was shaking with anger and yet frozen in his spot. He couldn’t figure out what he needed to be doing. Artemis was telling him to go to their mate but something was stopping him from making any effort to do anything. Hudson grabbed his head as an ear-piercing sound radiated through his head causing him and his wolf to weaken and drop to the ground.
****************
Amanda held onto the pendant with her fingers as she nervously bounced her knee with anticipation.
She had texted Ruby for Vita’s address since she didn’t remember how to get there and filled her in on what had happened. She asked that she didn’t tell Zachary or Deak that she was coming because she didn’t want to give them false hope if it didn’t work.
But it had to work. They needed Vita to be okay and come home where she would be safe.
Amanda let out a heavy sigh.
“Hey, are you okay?” Tabitha asked.
Amanda looked at her friend and gave her a small smile.
“Yeah, just anxious to get there. I just hope I can help get Vita home.” She told her.
“Is that all that’s on your mind?”
NO!! Willow wailed.
Amanda pressed her lips together. She was still upset about Hudson not wanting to come and support her, but she couldn’t let it overwhelm her.
“Yep, that’s all.”
