Chapter 5

The Beginning

Fate brought me here. In this Academy and I don’t know why I feel like I belong here. I never felt like I’m home until I saw this Academy. I never felt this in my former school.

“This is your dorm.” Cath pointed to the wooden door in front of us, and she handed me a key. I opened it and then I froze. Will this be my dorm? Is this for real? This is much more spacious than my apartment.

There are bookshelves and a queen-sized bed on the window side.

There is also a study table and a closet. Fortunately, my wound was healed. I have also changed my clothes. They took care of me more than I expected.

I still can’t believe this is my dorm. But my attention turned to the picture frame on the bedside table. I furrowed and I was about to pick it up when someone grabbed my arm.

“Don’t you ever touch that!” he shouted at me. I was startled and backed away by the sudden tone of Isaac’s voice. He’s angry. But why?

“I-I’m sorry,” was the only word that came out of my mouth. I bent down and pulled my arm out of his grasp. I walked towards the door and exited. Maybe he needs time. He probably wouldn’t have yelled

at me if the woman in the picture didn’t matter to him.

I leaned against the wall here in the hallway. Lydia and Cath followed me; they were worried about what Isaac did.

“I’m sorry, Althea. Isaac is a short-tempered person. That room is her ex-girlfriend’s room that’s why,” Lydia said, emphatically.

“Lydia!” Cath sighed as if she was preventing Lydia from mentioning Isaac and the woman in the picture. I just shrugged and didn’t pay attention to that. It’s their problem, not mine. I should probably be more careful from now on.

I can’t stay still inside the dorm. I wanted to leave but I don’t know where to go. When I came out of the dorm I was immediately startled when a man appeared in front of me.

“What are you doing inside that room?” He’s looking at me with a serious face. He has white pale skin, messy brown hair, and a pair of red eyes. He’s not wearing a uniform, looks like he’s not a student here. He looks much older than me, but his face is quite attractive.

I averted my gaze. “This is my dorm,” I replied, but he just smirked and walked in my direction. “What are you doing? S-Stay away!” I shouted but he seemed to hear nothing. He just walked closer to me.

“I’m Isaiah Villanueva. The older brother of Isaac,” he introduced himself. I raise my brow when he offered his hand for a handshake. just looked at it as if I didn’t care and I had no intention of accepting it either.

And I’m wondering why Isaac let someone stay in her ex-girlfriend’s dorm.” When I heard the last thing, he said I could not help but get annoyed.

I have no intention of taking away that dorm from her! It’s annoying. How come they act as if I’m going to steal something they gave?

“Forget it,” he said and stuck out his hand to me again. “Let’s be friends then. Nice meeting a beautiful girl like you.”

And now, he’s joking. “I’m not beautiful. I guess you approached the wrong person,” I said. I don’t care if Isaac is his brother. Yeah, they’re brothers. They both have attitude problems.

“You are beautiful. Why won’t you believe me?” He’s being ridiculous. My jaw dropped and I looked at him with a bored look. Jerk.

“You’re pathetic,” I said emphatically. I even shrugged as if I was annoying him. But I was the one who got annoyed when he just laughed.

“You’re funny.” He still doesn’t walk away from me. I already hate his presence. I was even more annoyed when he stepped closer to me.

“Stop!” I hesitated but he just laughed at me as if he was happy with my reaction. I stepped back and he was about to touch me when a strong wind flashed in front of me and the next thing I knew, Isaac was already standing in between me and Isaiah.

“What the hell are you doing here, Isaiah?” I feel the tension between them. And just by hearing Isaac’s voice, I knew he was annoyed as well. I could sense brother rivalry.

“Can you please respect me? I’m your older brother, Isaac,” Isaiah said while laughing. This Jerk. Does he think this is funny? I just wish Isaac would punch him straight in the face for being an a-hole.

“Leave.” I looked behind Isaac, but I could not see the expression on his face.

“Oh, come on, Isaac–”

“I said, leave!” I was shocked and taken aback when Isaac’s voice rose. He has this expression that I’m afraid of. I do not know what. But all I know is, he has a stance that everyone here fears.

“Fine,” Isaiah said and walked away. I heaved a sigh of relief when he disappeared, but my heart skipped a beat when Isaac turned around and our bodies touched. I flinched and stepped back, but he didn’t even react.

“Don’t go near him. He’s dangerous, Isaac reminded. He doesn’t have to say that. I will not approach that one.

Isaac walked out then I’m alone again. I let out a deep sigh. I did nothing but enter the dorm again and lay down on the bed. I stared at the ceiling doing nothing.

Why am I here? That was the first question that came to my mind. I never knew that inside a mysterious forest, there will be an Academy. A mysterious Academy. And it confuses me more.

Do I belong to this place? Is this the world I belong to? I guess this will be the beginning of my life. A life where I can be myself without being afraid.
