Chapter 12

Her Real Identity

“Althea…” I stopped walking when I heard Isaac called me. I thought he would let me go because of what I said.

I didn’t continue walking but I didn’t look at him either. I just stood there. “I have something to tell you.”

I was shocked when he walked closer to me. “And you don’t have any rights to control my life, too. “I was stunned. What I said backfired me when he said that. “You can’t keep me away from you, Althea. And you can’t stop me from entering your life,” when he said that he seemed so sure of what he was saying.

I was shaken. The nerve of this guy! “Whatever. I’m leaving.” | walked away but he finally said something that made me even more surprised.

“If you get to know about your past and who you truly are, don’t change,” he said meaningfully. I walked away, leaving him inside the forest.

When I got to the entrance of Magical University Cath was there. “Mrs. Zecharia wants to talk to you, privately.” I was surprised. These people are confusing the hell out of me. It was as if they were all hiding something. I could do nothing but go inside and go straight to Mrs. Zecharia. But before I got there I bumped into Andrei. I walked past him, but he said something that made me stop.

“You know, Isaac…” he paused. “.. .has a lot of secrets.” I looked at him then I shrugged.

“I have nothing to do with all of his secrets,” I sarcastically said but half meant it. Do I have to be affected if Isaac has a lot of secrets? I have those, too. We all have.

“Secrets that will break someone’s heart,” he said. I avoided my gaze because I feel conscious of the way he looked at me when he said that. “I know Isaac better than you, Althea.” I didn’t know what he wanted to point out to me at that moment.

Honestly speaking, I don’t even have any idea why he’s saying that to me. Does he think something is going on between me and Isaac? Well, he’s wrong.

“Isaac is one hell of a liar,” he said, “He will make you believe in something, and with just a snap of his finger, you’re nothing to him.” The way he said that makes me think that he and Isaac are the best of friends that turn into enemies.

“Is he your best friend?” I asked. He laughed, impassively.

“No, he never treated me as one.” He looked at me with an unreadable expression flashed on his face. “So, don’t trust him. He will deceive you and break you.” Then, he walked away.

What the hell is wrong with them?

They left a lot of words that confused me.

When I entered Mrs. Zecharia’s office, I saw her sitting on her office chair, so I immediately sat down in front of her.

“Althea…” Just by the tone of Mrs. Zecharia’s voice, I know this conversation is not going to be a good one. But I was shocked when she said something that turned my world upside down. “Althea, I know who your father is,” she said.

I felt my body being numbed. I feel like my world stopped spinning the moment that word came out of her lips. How come? For the past eighteen years, I’ve been alone and not knowing where to find myself and my family. I convinced myself they were dead so my heart would stop having hope.

I even told myself that they never existed. But here she goes, claiming that she knows my Father. “I-I don’t know what to say.”

I held my head, trying to sink it all in. “Nineteen years ago, Alexandria Academy was not a school, but a kingdom called the Black Kingdom and headed by Elijah Saavedra.” “We fought Elijah then. And Isaac’s father killed him. My husband now, Genesis. But two years later, I found out that he had a child. And that baby was missing. News spread that along with the Magic World that the daughter of Elijah was brought into the normal world. Where I came from. So, I tried to find Elijah’s lost daughter, but I couldn’t find her.”

A tear glided down from my eye. “T-That kid, that you’re talking about…is me?” She nodded which made me cry even more. I feel like I’ve been lost again.

“We wanted to find you because you have powers and you inherited them from your father. But a few years have passed, and we have not been able to find you. We don’t want you to be like your Father who became greedy and evil because of power. We want you to be like us,” she said. After years of trying to find out who I am, the answer is now in front of me, yet I don’t know how to accept it.

“My father was the evilest villain in this world?” I asked and she nodded again. I averted my eyes and wiped the tears from my eyes. ” I-I shouldn’t be in this world.

Just throw me out–”

“No, Althea! You will never be like him. And believe me, your Father was once a good person. He just fell in love and was hurt which turned him into a monster.”

“I still hate him.” I clasped my hand and I couldn’t stop crying. “How can someone be that bad?” Mrs. Zecharia walked toward my side and hugged me. I couldn’t stop crying but she wiped it all away. Like a mother does when her daughter is crying. She caressed my face and smiled at me.

Afterward, she fixed my hair and braided it along with my bangs.

Now my whole face is exposed. There is some loose hair on the back of my ear. She handed me an impact mirror.

“Your eyes are tantalizingly beautiful, Althea. You are beautiful.” I smiled but a tear glided down again because of what she said. She was kind to me, and I felt very comfortable with her.

I was so affected by what I found out, that I didn’t even realize that we were traveling back to the Academy.

I never saw Isaac again because he said he had to leave first before us. So, we didn’t go home with him.

“You look amazing, ‘Thea.” Lydia held my hand. I just smiled at her and didn’t talk back.

“You’ve been quiet again, did something happen?” Cath asked sitting in front of me.

“It’s unusual for Mrs. Zecharia to call for a one-on-one meeting,” Kristian said as if wondering why Mrs. Zecharia asked me to come earlier.

“Is it that important?” Kurt asked. I don’t know how to tell them the truth. But I think they should also know.

“I’m…” They turned to me at the same time. “…Elijah’s long-lost daughter.”
