The girls were laughing and giggling’s as they made their way to their dorm room. Vita was loving every second of it. It had been a long time since she had hung out with just the girls. She felt accepted as herself; she didn’t need to pretend to be anything else but her true self.
As they passed through the common room, they heard about a club that had just opened.
“Let’s go dancing tonight!” Tabitha suggested as she opened the door to the dorm and let the other two girls in.
Amanda was apprehensive about the idea; she assumed that they would have a fun night inside. She didn’t feel like being around a large crowd of people. She was still feeling overwhelmed about her not shifting, and Willow hadn’t talked to her since last night. She didn’t even try to come out when Hudson was trying to give his excuses for not being there.
“I think that might be a bit much. I mean, Vita just got rescued. Maybe we should just stay in, order a pizza and watch a movie,” she offered.
Vita and Tabitha both looked at her. “Are you worried that you’ll run into Hudson?” Tabitha asked.
Amanda pulled off her glasses. She was worried that her face still looked like she’d been crying all night but she needed to quit hiding behind them. “I’m not ready to face or talk with Hudson right now,” she admitted.
Vita smacked the side of her head. Both Amanda and Tabitha gave her a funny look. “I can’t believe I have been with you this long and not told you why I was on campus,” Vita told them.
Amanda hadn’t even thought to ask why she was there. She was just happy to see her friend again.
“So what were you doing here?” Tabitha chimed in.
Vita smiled. “I had a dream last night and Hudson and Marco were in it. They were fighting with each other for some reason. Why I have no clue, but something seemed off about Hudson. Not just cause he was fighting with his friend, there just seemed to be something that didn’t seem right about how he was acting. I had Deak and Zachary bring me here and we were able to hopefully find what was causing him to act like this.”
Amanda’s heart started to race as she waited for Vita to tell her why Hudson had been acting so differently toward her.
“What was it?” Tabitha questioned.
“It was a hex bag.”
“A… what bag?”
“Hex bag. It can be used in many different ways. There were quite a few of them buried all around campus. I hope we found them all,” Vita explained.
Amanda sat completely frozen for a moment. She wanted to believe that this was the real reason why Hudson had been acting the way he had been. But that small part of her that she has tried to bury deep was pushing doubt into her thoughts. What if he went back to being the guy he was in high school, what if this had all been just a game, and she’d played right into his hands by being the fool?
“Hey, Amanda, don’t even think about it. I’ve seen that look on your face before. Don’t let the negative feed into your suspicion that his feelings aren’t really for you, ’cause you know that he loves you,” Tabitha scolded.
Was her face that easy to read? She thought she was hiding how she was feeling about everything better than that, but she guessed she wasn’t.
Vita sat in the middle of the floor and motioned for Amanda to do the same. Once Amanda was sitting on the floor with her legs crossed, she let out a sigh. Vita motioned the same to Tabitha, and they were all sitting in a circle on the floor.
Vita turned to Amanda and smiled. “Let me see your hands, please?”
Amanda seemed hesitant about this. She was afraid that what she dreaded would be true. It just couldn’t be true.
Vita waited patiently with her hands extended out, waiting for Amanda to place her hands into hers. After a few moments of waiting, Amanda slowly extended her hands out to Vita.
Vita sucked in a deep breath and closed her eyes. She nodded as the images started to push through her—seeing all the fears and the pain that Amanda had gone through in high school with Hudson, then seeing the moment that everything changed for the both of them. There was one thing that Vita constantly felt through all the emotions and obstacles they had to go through to get them here.
Vita opened her eyes, “You and Hudson have been through quite a bit.”
Tabitha chuckled as Amanda rolled her eyes and nodded.
“There is one thing that kept coming up over and over again,” Vita said.
“What is it?” Amanda asked, her voice filled with concern.
Vita smiled, “Love.”
Amanda blew out a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding as the tears rolled down her cheeks.
Vita nodded, “It’s true. Love was what stood out the most, with everything you two have been through, your love hasn’t changed for each other.”
“See?” Tabitha exclaimed. She jumped up from her spot and ran over to her closet. “This deal for us to go out. We need to let off some steam and just have some fun.”
Amanda wiped the tears off her face. She let out a huff. Tabitha was right—wasn’t that the whole reason she’d wanted to come back to the campus, to be a normal teen and enjoy college life?
Vita hopped up next. “I’m game if you all are. I never got a chance to experience college life.”
Tabitha jumped up and down while she clapped her hands with excitement.
Amanda giggled as she shook her head and got up. They acing tolerancing****
Hudson shifted quickly once he got close to the campus, and Marco followed suit behind him. Hudson started to make his way onto campus but Marco held him back for a moment.
“What’s wrong?” Hudson asked.
“Are you sure you want to go back there?” Marco asked.
Hudson wasn’t sure where Marco was going with this. He needed to talk with Amanda, he needed to fix their relationship before there was no longer a relationship to fix.
“Think about it. Every time you have been here, your mood changes, and not for the better,” Marco explained.
Hudson sighed as he looked at the campus. He had to make a decision. Either stay back and risk his chances to make things right between him and Amanda or risk it all and make sure she was okay and make things right with her. “I have to try.”
Marco nodded. He understood.
They heard a husky chuckle nearby and turned to find Deak leaning against a tree.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be off finding your mate somewhere?” Hudson asked with disdain.
“Oh, I know exactly where my mate is, little question is, do you know where your is?”
