Chapter 48

Hudson snarled when he heard the voice of the man that had taken his mate. Hudson was through playing games and playing nice. He was ready to fight if he needed to, in order to get his mate back.

“Easy wolf, I didn’t come to fight. Amanda, it’s alright, come on out.” Deak called out.

Amanda walked out from a smaller room and was relieved to see Hudson standing there.

“Hudson” Amanda called out as she rushed over to him.

She wrapped her arms around Hudson’s waist and buried her head into his chest. She closed her eyes as she took in his cologne and was happy that he had come for her.

Hudson didn’t know what emotion he was feeling at the moment. He wanted to be angry with her for lying to him and getting herself into trouble. But the moment that her skin touched his, his anger slowly melted, and relief settled in. he wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head. His wolf began to purr when he felt their mate in their arms.

Amanda didn’t want to let go of Hudson. With everything that had happened she just wanted him to take her back to his pack and just lay in his arms where she knew she would be safe. Her eyes popped open when she realized that it was the actual truth. She felt safe with Hudson. Amanda smiled.

Hudson pulled Amanda back from him so he could take a look at her. She made a sad face when he put distance between them. He put his hands to her face and tilted her face to look up at him.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

Her eyes softened when she was able to see the concern on Hudson’s face. She nodded.

Hudson let out a sigh and pulled her back into his arms. He turned to the Lycan and said, “I guess I should be thanking you for saving my mate.”

Deak nodded.

“We have lots to talk about, but I fear here is not safe for a long time.”

“Alright, but just a few questions first.”

Deak looked at Hudson for a moment and a sly smile crossed his face.

“Igen.”

“What?”

“Yes, I was the Lycan in the alley that night. But I was not there to hurt anyone, I was simply there to watch.”

“So, you are a Lykan.”

“Yes, but I am not the one behind the attacks.”

“Why were you watching that night?”

“I watch Amanda.”

Amanda pulled back from Hudson and looked at Deak with a confused look and asked, “Why do you watch me?”

Deak looked around the Mausoleum and started to sniff the air.

“It’s no longer safe, I must go,” Deak told them.

“Wait, how do we get out of here?” Amanda asked him.

Ruby came up to Amanda and gently pulled her away from Hudson, “Come sugar, let’s get you changed so that they think you’re me when you leave with Hudson.”

“What about you Ruby?” Amanda asked.

“She can come back with me.” Deak offered with a mischievous grin.

Ruby looked at Deak and smirked, “You’re cute sugar, and I like your accent, but you’re a little young for me.”

Deak shrugged.

The girls went into the next room to change.

Hudson paced while he waited for Amanda.

“We’re not through with this conversation.”

“Yes, I tell you what I know but know this, I am not here to hurt Amanda.”

“Good to know, can I ask why?”

“When the time I straight I explain more.”

Amanda started to change out of her clothes and into Ruby’s they weren’t the same size exactly, but she could make it work. As she wrapped the shawl around her head she noticed a wall that was designed as a family tree filled with pictures. She assumed that it was Deak’s mother’s family. She looked over the pictures noticing some familiarity from person to person when she noticed a woman that looked vaguely familiar.

“I feel like I’ve seen this woman before, but I have no clue where I would have.” She told Ruby.

Ruby walked over and looked at the picture, her eyes widening as she too felt like she knew the woman. The name under the picture was nobody that she knew but it reminded her of someone from long ago. Ruby continued to look over the pictures and then came to a photo of a person that she knew all too well. She looked up at the top of the family tree and saw the last name Warren.

“Deak!” Ruby called out as she finished pulling over the top that Amanda had been wearing, which was a little more sung than she was comfortable with, but it would have to do for the moment.

Amanda walked over to see what was causing Ruby to call for Deak.

“It’s nothing sugar, why don’t you go and talk with Hudson for a sec? I’m sure you have some explaining to do with him.” Ruby said as she gave her a look.

Amanda hunched a little as if she were being reprimanded and made her way out to Hudson as Deak peaked his head into the small room.

“You dressed?” He asked.

Ruby looked over in his direction, “would it stop you if I said I wasn’t?” she said with some spunk.

He shrugged and entered the room. He made his way next to her and looked her up and down taking in how sung the clothes were on her.

“You look good.”

“Stop flirting and start explaining. There’s more than just the Duvall family that is on this wall.”

Deak nodded in agreement.

“Are you going to tell me?”

“In time Ruby. I can’t explain all at this time because I don’t know all. But when I do, I explain. In the meantime, we must leave.” He told her as he placed his hand under her arm and guided her out of the room.

When they walked back into the room they found Hudson and Amanda in an argument.

“Hudson?”

“Not now Amanda, we’ll talk about this when we’re back at the pack, and I know that you are fully safe.” He said with a slight growl in his voice.

Amanda looked over at Ruby and gave her a pleading look.

Ruby shrugged her shoulders. There wasn’t any advice that she could give the girls at the moment. Amanda was going to have to accept the consequences of Hudson being upset with her, she needed to own up to her faults and then ask Hudson for forgiveness. Ruby chuckled a little, at how the tables had turned.

Amanda looked back over at Hudson, but he was refusing to look at her. She sighed and put the glasses on that Ruby had given her.

“You should leave the way you came and be fine. Ruby and I take a separate path so that we are not to be seen together. We join back at Ruby’s when it is safe.” Deak instructed.

“You better have answers when I see you again.” Hudson threatened.

“I explain everything soon, until then Viszlat (Bye),” Deak said as he pulled Ruby out of the room with him and was gone.
