A Crown of Flames: Unveiling the Fiery Elegance

Chapter 17

Isolde I awoke to a finger tracing the line from my waist to my thigh and big green eyes looking at me. Lorcan appeared as smug as a fox who had devoured the lark. The smile on his face gave him away too easily. I sat up, vaguely surprised to find we were both still naked.

“How disappointing.” I stretched my hands above my head and smiled lazily at Lorcan, whose grin vanished at the mere suggestion of my unhappiness. “I half expected to wake up pressed against wings and scales.”

Lorcan puffed out his chest like an eagle. “I’m sorry if my human form does not please you, my princess.” I bit my lip and allowed my gaze to rake over his muscular torso and down the dark trail of hair that led to his manhood.

“Oh, it pleases me. I am hoping it shall please me again.”

Lorcan rolled on top of me and pinned my hands to the grass, holding my wrists together with one of his strong hands. His other hand lifted my hair away from my face and chest, allowing him a blank canvas of skin to take at his pleasure. He kissed my neck. “Does this please you, my princess?”

It did not just please me, it thrilled me. To have Lorcan dominate and take me like this was intoxicating. Every kiss sent tingles to my core, but I had to play coy. I was, after all, a princess.

“I’m not certain…”

He ran his free hand over my bare breasts and rubbed his thumb over my nipple until he could witness my arousal. “Does this please you, my princess?”

“I haven’t decided…”

He lowered his head to my breast and took my nipple in his mouth, swirling his warm tongue around it in perfect circles. He looked up at me and caught me biting my lip in frustration. We had only made love once, but it was clear my body ached for him again. He plucked his mouth free from my breast, causing a small cry of longing to escape my lips. “Did that please you?” His face had the most deviant grin, and I savored it in our little game.

I raised a brow to challenge him. I fear if that is all you are capable of, then I shall never be pleased.”

“I cannot have you unsatisfied…perhaps…” He dragged his fingers ever so slowly from my breast to my belly and then between my legs, stroking me softly at my core. His gaze met mine as he looked at me with uncertainty, his blush conveyed on his cheeks. My eyes rolled back at the sensation. My sweet stable boy was quickly turning into a seductive servant. And I splayed before him, seemed far more prostitute than princess, but I didn’t care.

I was happy. We were happy.

Lorcan slipped a finger inside me, and I came undone. Moaning, I watched as his eyes widened at what he was capable of. Newly encouraged, he rested his thumb against my bundle of nerves and began pleasuring me that way. “Lorcan.” His name came out ragged.

“Yes, my princess.”

“Would you kiss my lips?”

Lorcan leaned over, but I dipped my chin. “That is not what I meant.”

He looked at me befuddled until the realization of what I had propositioned became clear. He let go of the hold he had on my wrists and lowered his head between my legs. I was both terrified and excited as I laced my fingers through his hair.

Part of being a queen is knowing how to serve your king. A queen must be devoted and attentive not only in the throne room but in the bed chambers as well. Although it was stressed to me back in Abhainn that traditional missionary was what was intended for such duties as a royal wife, some men wanted to please as much as they wanted to partake of their pleasure. These stories had reached my ears, and I turned scarlet at the thought. I could not imagine a man putting his face between my legs. The thought of his tongue against my sex seemed wicked and scandalous. But as I lay there with Lorcan, I desired nothing more.

His tongue felt hot against my core, but it only fulfilled my desire that much more, making me ache for every stroke. He was gentle and generous, his need to make me happy apparent in every lick and taunt of his tongue. When he moaned, I realized he was enjoying his duties, and I began to relax and surrender to this world that was unveiling its mysteries to me. So attentive was he that I daresay he would have stayed there all morning and well into the afternoon if I commanded him. But I did not command him. For jest all we could, no longer was he one of my royal subjects.

I gave his hair a gentle but firm tug. His gaze met my own. Watching him pleasure me was erotic- having his eyes set upon mine while he pleasured me would be my undoing. Tiny tingles took over, and I cried out as my body began to shudder as I climaxed. I couldn’t imagine ever feeling this with Raelan. I couldn’t imagine feeling this with any other man but Lorcan.

In my cloud of euphoria, I beckoned him to my side. “Come here.”

Lorcan ran his tongue across his lips, “Did I please you, my princess?” His eyes darkened as he looked at me, his grin shameless.

“Lie down on your back, and I’ll show you just how much you pleased me.” He laughed lightly but obeyed. Once he was on the ground, I straddled him, feeling his thickness take root between my legs. He buried himself inside me once more. TA’s dull ache reminded me of how he had stretched me for the first time the night before. But as I moved over him in a steady rhythm, the waves of pleasure washed away any trace of pain. His hands found my waist, taking a firm hold as he rocked his hips up against mine. He was a dragon, and the dragons were known for claiming their mates. As he lay beneath me, I relished how it was clear he saw me as an equal.

He didn’t just want to claim me, he wanted me to claim him as well.

After our lovemaking, we bathed in the brook again. Lorcan caught a fish for our breakfast and cooked it over the fire. We finished off the nuts, berries, and apples while we warmed our wet skin sitting by the flames. When the food was eaten, my hair dried and braided, there was nothing left to do but return to the castle and allow destiny to unfold.

“I believe it’s time, my princess.”

I leaned up on my tippy toes and kissed his nose. “Lorcan, after all that has transpired between us, you do not need to continue to call me your princess.”

He gave me a sweet, chaste kiss, then a surprising playful smack on my rear end. The way he would have handled one of the horses in the stables. “You’ll always be my princess,” he said with a wink. I melted at his words and looked at the man who had won my affection. Even if he didn’t have the heart of a dragon, I’d still want him nonetheless.

I dressed once more in my trousers, tunic, and boots, pinning on my cloak as Lorcan shifted into the massive dragon before me. I was able to appreciate him now. The muscles in his wings matched his arms. The defined chest belonged to his human figure. The messy black hair, now a mass of lethal spikes, and the green eyes could both deliver either justice or love depending on who was at the end of his gaze. There was no use delaying the inevitable. Lorcan laid down low as he had yesterday, and I grabbed the now familiar spikes and swung my leg around his neck. I settled against his neck, finding the spikes I could use as handles, and gave his neck a squeeze with my knees. “I’m ready.”

He didn’t hesitate but shot straight toward the clouds as he had during yesterday’s ride. This time, he didn’t avoid the civilians who might report the presence of a dragon to the guards. Now he flew low so he was seen. He flew over the ships and had his tail nick their sails. Over the hills where the villages existed, he screeched a sound that hadn’t been heard in almost twenty-five years. When he headed toward the city, the people were gathered, pointing and crying in fear as Lorcan flew low and drew a breath, then released a flame of fire setting the sigil of the king ablaze. The bells began to toll in the city, and I leaned down and kissed Lorcan’s scales for good luck.

There was no going back now. Savio knew we were coming.
