Unexpected
It was almost dawn when we finished our training. My body was exhausted because of too much pressure that I’d released throughout my fight with Lydia. This is the result of overusing my power.
I let them know I was going ahead first and I immediately walked out of the Academy. I bumped into a lot of students and I was even surprised when they bowed down to greet me. It was as if I was superior to them.
Maybe it’s because they know I’m one of the Players in the upcoming Tournament.
I walked inside the forest and sat down under the tree. I looked at the setting sun in the west. This world is peaceful and I can hear the birds chirping. The trees were swaying and dancing along with the rhythm of the wind. It’s so peaceful. But I was shocked when someone sat next to me which made me flinch.
“Isaac!” I hissed, but he didn’t even bother to look at me, instead leaned against the tree. “Are you following me?!”
I sighed but he just looked at me. “It’s dangerous out here,” he said contrary to what I expected him to say. “So, if you don’t want to go inside, I’ll stay beside you instead.
I averted my eyes. I heard his sigh, so I looked at him again, but he closed his eyes again while both his hands were on the back of his neck. I can’t stare longer at his face knowing that it makes my heart go crazy. This is getting worst.
“Are you going to sleep in the middle of a forest?” I asked, trying to push him away but I failed. When will I ever win against him?
“Who says I’m going to sleep? I’ll just watch over you,” he replied. I clenched my fist. Why is he bothering me? I tried so hard to stay away from him, but he keeps on pushing himself to me.
“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t need anyone to watch over me? I’m old enough to–“
“You didn’t say anything, but I want to.” He even shrugged causing me to get even angrier.
“I don’t care, I’m leaving.” I was about to stand up when he held my arm causing me to sit back again.
“Don’t make me pull you again for the last time, Althea. Or else I’ll do something that will make you stop.”
My forehead furrowed. Is he threatening me? I bit my lip so hard and I pushed the hand away. Forget it, this conversation is over.
I stood up and was about to walk away again when a strong wind made me stop and the next thing I knew, I was leaning against a tree and Isaac was in front of me, pinning me.
“I told you.” He smirked. Then seconds after, I felt his lips on mine. My eyes widened and my world seemed to stop spinning during that moment.
I closed my eyes, but I immediately opened them when I realized what was happening, and using all my strength, I pushed him away from me.
He was taken aback, and he smiled that made me want to push him away from me even more. “W-Why did you do that?!” I shouted.
I grabbed my lip. My first…was him.
“I guess that’s your first kiss, huh?” His voice was sarcastic. He was about to come closer, but I let out a fire in my hand and pointed it in his direction.
“Stop,” I said. I closed my eyes. What the hell just happened? Why did I let him do that? This has to stop; he is too much.
“Althea–” He was about to hold me, but I threw the fire at him which he immediately avoided.
“I said, stop!” Tears poured down from my eyes. “Don’t approach me again, Isaac. Please.”
Then I ran back inside the Academy. But Isaac was persistent, he followed me which made me angry. “Althea, wait!”
“Stop following me for Pete’s sake,
Isaac!” I shouted at him. But I stopped walking when I felt like someone was staring at us. It was as if a lot of eyes were watching. “How long will you hide there?!”
“What are you talking about?” Isaac asked me in astonishment. I pointed out the tree when it moved.
“Kurt and Kristian are hiding behind that,” I said. I then pointed to the tree next to it.
“Lydia and Cath are there.” A few minutes later they came out and looked down, obviously, they were guilty. I stared at them all. “Why the hell are you following me?” I asked irritably.
“We are not following you!” They tried to convince me, but they can’t. I knew they were following me earlier because I could feel their presence. My guard was down earlier because of what Isaac did, but my senses are much more active than anyone.
“But seriously,” Lydia said. “What did you do inside the forest?” she asked which made us quiet. I immediately averted my eyes; I felt my cheeks were already red. I can still remember what Isaac did earlier. He stole my first kiss and it was unexpected! Now every time I look at him, all I could remember was that kiss.
“N-Nothing!” I rolled my eyes to avoid their question and walked away but they followed me. They kept on teasing us and all I could do was to stay quiet. I can’t tell them that Isaac Villanueva kissed me and made my heart skip a beat. That’s ridiculous.
They asked Isaac but he just ignored them like he didn’t hear anything.
I couldn’t help but smile. Is this how it feels like to have friends to laugh with? That’s right. I already consider them as my friends. I didn’t know that they will be part of my life. I didn’t even know that I would let them.
They are now the reason why I want to keep going. I don’t know what will happen shortly, but I want this to last. I don’t want to lose them.
