Cath’s POV
“Kurt! Can’t you see I’m training?” I said irritably to him, but he still hugged me.
“Sweetheart, don’t you love me anymore? Do you have anyone else–” I didn’t let him finish and I took his hand away from me which made him quiver.
“What are you thinking?! Stop thinking like that, will you?!” I yelled. I was shocked when he let go of me and walked away slightly, he ignored me.
We are here in the training room, just the two of us. The others don’t even want to train today. They’re annoying.
Kurt wants to be with me all the time, so he came to train with me. He keeps on hugging me earlier because he knew we can’t be like this in front of everyone. Kurt Calyx Scott is my boyfriend for four years. He’s been there for me all those times. And I love him for that.
“Kurt,” I called to him, but he ignored me. He just pouted and did not speak. I knew I had to get used to him being like this.
But I suddenly felt guilty.
“Kurt.”
He doesn’t want to look back. I was overwhelmed with emptiness but suddenly, what he said a year ago flashed in my mind.
“Call me sweetheart. And I’ll respond.”
“Sweetheart.” And I was right. Because he raised his head and he smiled at me.
Kurt Calyx Scott, what will I do with you? He’ll forever be a nuisance in my life. I don’t care if our relationship is forbidden.
Neither his parents nor mine knew about us. We’re too young they said. But for me? There’s no such thing when you fall in love. Only Kristian, Lydia, and Isaac know about us.
“Why are you smiling? Are you thinking of something?” he asked as if sulking. I just smiled even more.
“Yes.” I winked at him which made him smile.
“Then who?” he asked. He hugged me again just like usual.
“Kurt Scott,” I said, and I laughed when he blushed.
“I’m also thinking of someone,” he said.
“I’m not asking.” He glared at me and I laughed out loud which made him angry even more. “I’m not asking because I know it’s just me.”
He looked up at me. “I know I’ll be the only girl you love for you promised. Everything I have is yours, and everything you have is mine. I love you.” When he heard that, his captivating smile showed up. He is handsome.
“I will forever be here for you,” he whispered to me. He tightened his grip on me even more. I smiled as he kissed me on my forehead. “I love you too, Cath.”

Kristian’s POV
“I’m scared.” She looked at me and furrowed as if I said something funny, and I saw her beautiful face, her gentle eyes, and her sharp nose again. Lydia.
“You? Scared? Oh, come on, Kris! You’ve never been scared.” She said while laughing. I tightened my grip on both of her hands.
“I’m afraid I’ll lose you. I’m afraid I couldn’t save you in that tournament,” I confessed. That’s the truth. That’s what I’ve been afraid of ever since they chose us to be the members of the 23rd Tournament.
She sighed and hugged me tightly. ” Kris, you don’t have to be afraid. We will win that tournament. I promise.” I smiled when I heard that from her. “Just trust me, okay? No matter how dangerous that tournament is, we can survive.”
I gasped and hugged her tightly. We all know how dangerous that tournament is, but it will test how strong we are and what Alexandria Academy students can do.
I kissed Lydia’s cheek. We have been together for five years, but the spark is still with us. I love her. Even though our relationship is forbidden and a secret. The time will come when I can proudly say that she’s mine. “I love you, Lydia.”
“I love you too, Kristian.”
Althea’s POV :
It’s already midnight. But I was still walking down the hallway. I couldn’t sleep. Every time I close my eyes, my mind keeps on wandering around. So, I decided to breathe fresh air.
I was walking down the quiet hallway when I felt like there was someone around. I felt a presence behind me.
“What are you doing here in the middle of the night?” I felt him standing behind me and he was so close. But I did not face him. It was as if something was holding me back from facing him.
“I-I can’t sleep,” I replied. He let out a deep sigh. He came even closer to me. But I stay still. Please, don’t get close.
“Rest, Althea,” Isaac said. I leaned over and faced him, but my eyes widened when our noses almost hit so I backed away. My heart almost dropped, and my face seemed to turn red in embarrassment. That was close.
“I-I’m sorry,” I apologized. My heart kept on beating so fast just thinking how close our face was. My breathing became rigid when our eyes met. “I’m leaving.”
I hurried away but he pulled my arm that made me stop. “Look at me, ” he said. I frowned and stared at his serious face looking at me. I flinched when he tried to remove the hair on my face.
“What are you doing? Do you want to die?” I hissed, but he still looked at me as if no one can stop him from doing what he wants. Not even me. I stared at his face; his serious expression is still visible but he was staring at my face as if there was something worth looking at.
“Let me see your eyes,” he said causing me to be surprised.
Will I let him? But I couldn’t move when he parted my hair. I looked at him, but I knew he was shocked. Of course, he will. My eyes have different colors and that is not normal.
But that’s not what I’m wondering. Nothing happened. No strong wind came. I should be happy. But why am I nervous? Is it because I was able to look at him without anything happening? But why?
Everyone I stared at with my own eyes, they all died or were hurt.
It’s beautiful.” I was dazzled by what he said.
Beautiful? My eyes? My heartbeat quickened even more. It was as if I had run a few miles, but I was just standing there. Isaac, why do you make my heart beat like this?
“I-It’s not.” I dodged and stepped slightly away from him.
“You are beautiful.” I was stunned by what he said. He even averted his eyes. “Y-You don’t have to hide your eyes and your face,” he said then hurriedly left.
“Damn you, Isaac,” I whispered but I was already smiling. A genuine smile. I walked back to my dorm and lay down on the bed. I just stared at the ceiling and suddenly smiled when I remembered Isaac. I shook my head; I shouldn’t feel this way. Now, I couldn’t sleep.
