Amanda woke up suddenly the next morning, she turned to see if Hudson was still in the bed with her, but he was already gone. In his place was a note with a rose.
Amanda smiled.
She picked up the rose and held it up to her nose. She took in the soft scent that only a rose can give. Her stomach fluttered with excitement. Laying the rose back down she picked up the note.
Good Morning Beautiful,
Sorry, I couldn’t be there to wake up with you. I had an early class this morning and you were sleeping so peacefully; I didn’t want to wake you. I hope you have a wonderful day. I’ll be thinking about you and missing you all day.
I’ll see you later tonight.
I love you.
Hudson.
Amanda giggled with delight. Her heart was so filled with love for Hudson that she couldn’t wait for the day to be over so that she could see him tonight.
She laid back down in her bed as she smiled, looking over the note and smelling the rose at the same time.
She was so engrossed with the note and rose that she hadn’t heard her friend Tabitha come into their dorm.
“Well, someone is in a good mood this morning,” Tabitha said as she walked over to her side of the room and sat down on her bed.
“Maybe,” Amanda said with a giggle.
“Have you heard anything about Vita?” Tabitha asked as she untied her shoes wanting to shower and change before her first class.
Amanda shot up from her bed. She closed her eyes and started to scold herself for forgetting to check in about Vita.
She grabbed her phone to see if she had any messages.
Nothing.
She opened her phone and clicked on Deak’s name.
Ring, Ring.
“Ah, good morning small girl,” Deak greeted her when he answered his phone.
“Deak, did you find Vita?” she asked him eagerly.
There was a long pause from the other line. She looked at her phone to make sure they weren’t disconnected.
“Deak?” she asked.
“Yes, I’m here and no, she was not there,” Deak told her.
Amanda sat quietly for a moment as she tried to put together what she saw last night.
“Deak, I…I had a vision. I think.” She said softly.
“What? What did you see?”
Amanda shook her head.
She could feel her body start to panic. She didn’t want to give him false hope.
Tabitha walked over to Amanda and sat next to her and rubbed her back.
“It’s okay, Amanda. Tell him what you saw.” Tabitha said to her in a calming tone.
Hearing the calmness in Tabitha’s voice helped Amanda’s anxiety.
Amanda took a deep breath and started to explain to Deak what she had seen, just like she did when she told Hudson about it.
“Is there anything else you can remember about the place anything at all?” Deak asked with fervor.
Amana closed her eyes as she tried to take herself back to that place. She looked around it was dark, damp almost like a dungeon maybe a basement of some sort.
She told him all this.
Deak complimented her. “That’s a good small girl. You did well.”
“I wish I could do more. I’m sorry.” She told him as she looked down at her lap.
Tabitha continued to be supportive and there for Amanda.
“You gave them something to work with, don’t be so down on yourself,” she told her.
“She’s a right small girl. I will let Zachary know what you said. We will find her, a small girl. Now I must go.” He told her before he hung up.
Amanda closed her phone and let out a sigh.
“Come on, there’s nothing more that we can do at this time for them. Besides, we need to get ready for classes or we’ll be late.”
Amanda tapped her phone and saw the time.
She jumped up almost knocking Tabitha over.
“I’m supposed to be in class in twenty minutes.” She exclaimed as she started to grab whatever she could to get ready.
********
Hudson was trying hard to keep his temper in control. Ever since he left his room for classes this morning, everything had pissed him off. He couldn’t understand why he was getting frustrated so easily.
He was making his way back from his first-class when someone slammed themselves into his shoulder with force.
“What the…” He turned and called out to the guy.
The guy turned back and smirked.
“Maybe you should watch out where you’re going little Alpha.” He said with a chuckle.
Hudson wanted to put the guy in his place but before he could he felt a familiar hand grab onto his shoulder to hold him back.
“Now, is not the time Alpha,” Marco whispered into his ear.
He was relieved to have someone he trusted by his side.
He turned and looked over at Marco.
“Thanks, man.”
“You know I’ll always have your back.”
Hudson grabbed his bag that had been dropped and lifted it back up onto his shoulder.
“So how was the rest of your night?” Hudson asked as they made their way through the campus.
Marco smiled as he lowered his head a bit and stayed quiet.
Hudson was caught off guard to see his friend behaving like this. It was not like his friend to act this way.
He narrowed his eyes at his friend before he asked, “Did you two…?”
No! No! We just had a nice night of spending time together. We went for a run with our wolves and ended up falling asleep out there.”
Hudson nodded.
So that’s why he was acting the way he was.
“I’m happy for you and Tab. You two make a great couple.”
“Thanks. It’s weird though. We grew up together in the same pack and we both just never thought that we would be mated to each other. So, we’re just taking our time and enjoying our time together. We both agree that we don’t need to rush into this and mate while we are young. It just would lead to so many things and we’re not ready for any of that. Yet.” He concluded.
Hudson could understand and respect where they were coming from with their decision. This was all new to him and it’s not like they had a class for them to learn, mating 101. Everything happens after you complete the mating bond with your mate.
Hudson shook his head to clear his thoughts.
They saw a group of their fellow pack members huddled around in a small group, as they started to make their way closer to the group they heard cheering and fighting.
Hudson and Marco ran over to the group.
“Stop fighting, right now!” Hudson yelled out; his voice filled with his Alpha tone. Which caused the two that were fighting to stop.
He recognized one of the fighters to be one of the younger members of his pack.
“Owen. what’s going on?” Hudson asked.
“Sorry, Alpha. This guy was talking crap about you, and I was only defending your name.” Owen explained.
