Chapter 4

Amanda went tearing through all her clothes, trying to find the right thing to wear for her date with Hudson. She could feel her frustration rise as she continued to look. Her fingers tingled with her magic.

“Easy, you’re going to have an outburst, and something is going to blow up if you don’t control your emotions,” Tabitha said in a soft, calm tone.

Amanda closed her eyes and breathed. Tabitha was right, if she didn’t control her emotions, something was going to happen, and she didn’t know what.

Her magic had been spotty since that day. They all questioned her on how she was able to do all that she did to Kimmy and Fabian, but she didn’t know. Her wolf had taken over, and the only time she remembered anything was in her dreams.

Since then, her wolf has been less than eager to build a relationship and continued to hide deep within unless their mate was close to them. Then and only then did she want to partake in anything.

Amanda looked down at her fingers as she continued to see the electric current building in her hand. She squished her hand into a fist, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. When she opened them, the current was gone.

“Have you tried calling that witch girl you met, what’s her name?” Tabitha asked.

“Vita. Yeah, I keep sending her text messages, but she has yet to respond to any of them.”

“What about Deak?”

Amanda shrugged.

Tabitha got up and walked over to her friend.

“Alright, what’s going on?”

Amanda did a double shrug and sighed.

“I guess I’m just nervous about tonight?” She admitted.

Tabitha looked at her, confused.

“Why?”

“I don’t know, it’s my first actual date with Hudson.”

“You’re mates, there’s nothing to be worried about.”

“I know we’re mates and the bond. I guess I just still think like a human and am worried about him not wanting me anymore.”

Tabitha looked at her and understood what she was trying to say.

“Do you think Hudson is only with you because of the bond?”

Amanda shrugged and nodded.

Tabitha put an arm around her friend and guided her to the bed for them to sit on.

“I know there’s a lot that we need to teach you about being a wolf. I think we all forget that you didn’t grow up with the pack, and you haven’t had a chance to see how a bond truly works. The bond, in a sense, is the connection between you two, it takes the stupid stereotypical drama out of the situation. When Hudson looks at you, he only feels the connection that the bond builds on. It helps the love that grows as you two grow into a couple. You were picked especially for him, only you can give him what he needs to be a great Alpha. Everything happens for a reason, Amanda. I don’t know why it had to be this way for you, but it made you who you are today. It prepared you so that when it was time for your wolf to emerge, she was able to do what she needed to do to save her mate.”

Amanda let out a breath. That was a lot. But it was information she needed to hear, and it made sense.

Amanda hugged Tabitha.

“Thank you.”

“Amanda, we are here for you. You have people here that care for you and want to help you. All you have to do is ask.”

Amanda pulled back and looked at Tabitha.

“I guess I’m still getting used to actually having friends in my life.”

“Yeah, well, you do. Just remember that.”

Tabitha got up from the bed and moved back over to her side of the room.

“Tabitha?”

“Yeah.”

“Could you and Marco go with us tonight? Please!” Amanda folded her fingers as if she was praying and pulled out her bottom lip in a pout, and gave her friend her saddest eyes.

“Oh, you’re good. Hudson isn’t going to like this, though.”

“Hudson will be fine with it.”

Tabitha rolled her eyes and pulled out her phone to text Marco. She had to constantly remind herself not to use her mind link around Amanda. That girl needed to do the ceremony soon to make the rest of their easier, Tabitha thought to herself.

Marco was sitting back against his bed when he received a text from Tabitha. He pulled out his phone and looked at the message. His brows furrowed as he continued to stare at the message.

“What’s wrong?” Hudson asked as he was getting ready for his date with Amanda.

“It seems your mate is nervous about her date with you and wants to do a double date with Tabitha and me,” Marco answered.

Hudson closed his eyes and sighed.

He took a deep breath as he tried to gather patience and understanding for his mate’s insecurities.

When he opened his eyes and looked into the mirror, his eyes were bright as his wolf brimmed at the surface.

Easy, he tried to explain to his wolf. Their mate had been through a lot and still needed time to get used to the mate bond.

He wasn’t just any guy that was interested in her. He was her forever, and he needed to show her that.

She wanted to be wooed, but how could he woo her if they always had other people around them? He asked himself.

“It’s fine, I was just going to take her to dinner and then see a movie later. If she’ll feel better with you both there, then that’s what we need to do.” Hudson told him.

Marco nodded; he could see the frustration on Hudson’s face. He could empathize with his Alpha completely. It seemed to be the same for him and Tabitha. Every chance they had to have some alone time, something or someone always interrupted them. He hoped it would change now that they were back on campus.

“Alright, I’ll let Tabitha know that you are ok with it.”

“Thanks. You need to start getting ready, I told Amanda I would be there at seven to pick her up.” He said with annoyance.

“Alright, alright. Don’t get testy. It’s not my fault.” Marco said in his defense.

“You’re right.”

Hudson looked into the mirror at himself. He didn’t understand why he was beginning to get so annoyed about Tabitha and Marco coming along on his date with Amanda. It was harmless. She just needed a little reassurance. But that was what was annoying him. He was her mate why did she constantly need to be reassured that he was going to stay with her? It’s not like he was going to reject her. If that were the case, he would have done it months ago, and then none of this would have happened.

Hudson shook his head. He loved Amanda, and nothing was going to change that. Nothing!

Hudson jumped when he felt his friend’s hand land on his shoulder.

“Whoa, what’s wrong?” Marco asked.

“Nothing, you ready?” Hudson said as he turned toward his friend.

Marco nodded.
