Chapter 6

Hudson wrapped his arms around Amanda to protect her from the brunt of the impact they were about to endure.

Amanda tucked herself into Hudson’s chest, she could hear his heart beating erratically. Amanda squeezed her eyes tight as she tried to tap into her magic, but nothing was working. The SUV tipped and started to roll.

It was then her wolf took over and tapped into her power. She was then able to put a protection spell around her friends. The SUV continued to tumble until it hit bottom. There was smoke coming out from the hood of the vehicle.

There was a dark figure that stood looking down at the car. When there was no movement coming from the vehicle, and the smoke continued to grow, they turned away, got back in their vehicle, and left.

Hudson slowly woke up and noticed the smoke coming from the front of the vehicle.

“Stan, Stan, are you ok? Marco? Tabitha?” He called out as he also shook Amanda to see if she was conscious.

Amanda passed out, but the could feel her heart beating.

“Yeah, I think so,” Tabitha told him.

“Yes, Alpha, Stan confirmed.

Marco pushed the door open and pulled Tabitha out with him. He then yanked the front passenger door open to help Stan get out since his door was crushed in. Hudson scooted across the seat with Amanda in his arms and quickly jumped out of the vehicle.

“We need to move,” Hudson ordered as he continued to carry Amanda.

They quickly followed, and after moving a short distance, they heard an explosion, they crouched down and covered themselves from the debris. Hudson pulled Amanda closer to him.

What the hell was that all about? He thought to himself.

Amanda started to stir in his arms.

“Amanda, are you ok? He asked her, his voice laced with concern.

Amanda slowly opened her eyes.

“Hudson?”

She then bolted up from his arms to look at him.

“What happened? Are you hurt? Is everyone ok? I tried, I tried to use my magic to protect us, but it wouldn’t work,” she cried.

Hudson pulled his mate back into his arms to try and calm her down.

“Shh, Amanda, everyone i sokay. I don’t know how, but we made it through that crash with just mere scratches. T had to have been your magic. Maybe your wolf helped.”

Amanda shook her head. The last thing she remembered was burying herself into Hudson’s chest and pushing herself to tap into her magic. She couldn’t remember anything after that.

“Why can’t I remember anything that happens when my wolf takes over?” she asked.

Hudson looked over at Tabitha and Marco. Neither really could give an exact answer.

He kissed her head and pulled her back so that he could look at her.

“Hey, sometimes it may take time to establish a relationship with your wolf. Somehow your wolf has found a way to tap into your magic and used it to help us.” He told her.

Amanda’s it’s okay. She saved us.” he told her as he rubbed her arm.

She nodded her head. She should be happy that her wolf was able to help, but she didn’t know why it was her wolf that was able to tap into her power and not her.

“Alpha, we need to get you out of here and somewhere safe,” Stan advised.

Hudson surveyed his surroundings.

“The campus is not too far from here; we can make our way back without being seen this way.” He suggested.

Marco wrapped his arm around his mate’s waist as he looked her over to make sure that she wasn’t injured more than she said she was.

“I’m fine, Marco.” She whispered.

He ran his fingers against her cheek and then cupped the side of her face.

“I just don’t want to lose you before we even get a chance…” He trailed off and looked away.

Tabitha pulled him closer, “Hey, look at me.”

He turned and looked back at her.

“I’m not going anywhere, okay! You, Marco, are stuck with me. I’m not some frail little girl that you need to constantly protect.”

He nodded, but he still wanted to protect his mate.

“I appreciate you being concerned about me, but there’s nothing to be concerned about at the moment,” she told him.

Marco backed away and ran his hand through his hair.

“You’re right.”

Tabitha walked up to him and reached up to pull him closer to her so that she could kiss his lips.

“Don’t think I don’t enjoy your protectiveness over me because I do.” She said with a smile.

Marco looked down at her and smirked.

“Well?” Hudson asked them.

They both turned and looked at him.

“Are we going to go, or are you two going to sit here and continue whatever this is you two are doing?” Hudson asked.

They both glared at Hudson while Amanda giggled softly to herself.

“Let’s go then,” Tabitha said as she turned and started to walk in the direction back to the college.

Hudson turned towards Stan.

“You go on ahead. I’ve already called some of my team to make their way here and to the campus. We need to make sure that the vehicle wasn’t tampered with and find out who that driver and vehicle belong to.” Stan told him.

Hudson nodded.

“Keep me posted on what you find out.”

“Yes, Alpha.”

Hudson placed his arm around his mate and started to walk behind Tabitha and Marco back to the campus.

“Sorry, our date got ruined,” he said to her.

She let out a sigh.

“It depends on how you look at it. Look at the sky it’s a nice night, the stars are out, and we are taking a nice long walk through the wilderness.” She said as she shrugged, “Seems pretty romantic to me.”

Hudson pulled her in closer and kissed her forehead.

“I’m glad you can see it that way.”

There was a quiet moment between them.

“Hudson?”

“Hmm”

“When did you get your wolf?”

Hudson paused for a moment before he answered.

“If you had been raised in the wolf pack, you usually meet your wolf between thirteen to sixteen years old. Once you meet your wolf, you start to shift into your wolf form on the full moon, and then as you grow with your wolf, you are able to shift outside the full moon.”

“So, the full moon doesn’t control our shift?”

“In the beginning, it does, the moon helps call your wolf out. But as you learn to work with your wolf, you are able to shift between the two easier.”

“Do you think my wolf will shift at the next full moon?” She asked him.

Hudson nodded.

“She should, but you have to understand the first shift is going to be slow and painful.”

“I know, your mom was talking to me about it and said it would be good to go back to the pack for the first shift.”

“Maybe you should invite Ruby to help, she is, after all, part of your family.”
